Description
Photograph of a bandstand in City Park, Vallejo, California, ca.1900. At center a gazebo with three visible arches stands with a staircase on the right leading up to the platform. A wide dirt pathway is visible from bottom center curving in front of the gazebo to the right. Three men are visible sitting on a bench in front of the gazebo. Each man wears a dark suit and hat, while the two men on the right are crossing their legs. Grass is visible on the right, as well as tall trees. Bushes and other trees are planted to the left, while homes are visible in the background.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
