Description
Photograph of an aerial view of downtown Los Angeles, looking north towards Glendale and the San Fernando Valley, 1931-1934. The large buildings of downtown are at center. A large grassy hill can be seen above downtown at right. Several large roads are visible. Two parallel mountain ranges are visible in the distance, and the sprawl of the city seeps through a gap in the peaks at center. Picture file card lists buildings and dates: T.I. Building - 1928 L.A. City Hall - 1928 California State Building - 1931 Title Guarantee Building - 1931 L.A. Times - 1934 U.S. Court House -1937 Old Court House torn down 1938.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
