Description

Photograph of a golf course at Los Angeles Country Club, ca.1920. To the left of the center, a group of golfers and a caddie holding up the pin are standing on the green. The foreground is covered by neatly trimmed grass. In the background at left, a line of trees can be seen that extend along the golf course. In the extreme background, people can be seen standing in a large group near the line of trees. Beyond the golf course, houses and trees are observable to the right. At left, electric towers (oil towers?) can be seen.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
