Description
"Algerie et Kabylie - Kabylie - Ste-Eugenie - Preparation du couscous pour les malades. Les deux grosseurs de semoule melangees, les femmes humectent et roulent le grain. qu'elles passeront ensuite au tamis et feront cuire a la vapeur." ("Algeria and Kabylie - Kabylie - St Eugenie - Preparation of the couscous for the patients. The two mix the lump of semolina, the women moisten and roll the grain. Then they will pass it through the sieve and steam.") A missionary sister poses with nine indigenous women who are in the process of making couscous in large bowls.
The back of the postcard is blank and contains printed information about the publisher: "Soeurs Missionnaires de N.-D. d' Afrique, St-Charles - Edition G.-L. ARLAUD - LYON, Repr. interdite." The Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa were a Catholic missionary order.
