Large trumpet flower plant (Bruginansia) in Santa Barbara, 1908

Description

Photograph of a large trumpet flower plant (Bruginansia) in Santa Barbara, 1908. A tree with flowers hanging down from the ends of branches can be seen at center. A small wooden chair or stool sits at the base of the trunk. The arch of a building is visible behind. Also called "Bells of the Virgin", or "Evening Lady" (Doña de la Noche), this was an early California favorite and no Spanish garden was without it.
