Description	Photograph of Saint Athanasius Episcopal Church, the first Protestant House of Worship erected in Los Angeles, 1864, on southwest corner of Temple Street and New High Street. The Reverend Mr. Messenger is standing in doorway of the church. Also present are a few members of the congregation and a dog. The simple one-story brick building is viewed from a yard area behind a picket fence.
