Description	Photograph of Mexican adobe home in Monterey, 1887. At center, six people (man, woman, and four children) can be seen standing in front of an old adobe house in Monterey. A dog and chickens are at their feet. "This is probably the Esteban Castro adobe in its original state -- built in the 1880's by General Jose Castro for his son Esteban. Later occupied by the Diaz family. Later part of Governor Morris estate." -- A. Yorba. The tile roof overhangs the house at right providing a covered outdoor area. A road with a fence along it are visible in the background.
