Title	Imperial County sandhill road construction, 1926
Description	Photograph of the beginning of construction of a road across the sandhills in Imperial County to replace the old plank road, 1926. A truck sits at left beneath a large, cylindrical canister which sits on a wooden structure. Next to the truck a dirt road extends from the left foreground to center. Several partitions stand at the end of the road at center and a sign stands at right that reads "California Highway Commission, Across the Sandhills". Trees can be seen on the horizon in the distance.; Schmidt and Hitchcock are contractors for California Highway Commission. Allotment: $270,982.
