The dozens of workers wield picks and shovels tearing up the dirt street for the rail line. Several one-story buildings and the dome of a taller tower are visible in the background. Legible signs include: "Liquors, cigars" and "Candy Factory".; "The Main Street Railroad Co. has a large force of men at work laying a double track. They are now working between Fifth and Seventh Streets." -- Express (21 July 1886).
