A worker wearing a protective mask and a helmet with headlamp stands in the left foreground, to the left of a wooden sewer yard gate. The gate bears a sign reading "City of Los Angeles Sewer Maintenance Yd. 109-S. Ave. 18. Dept of Public Works. Bureau of Engr". The workman's hand rests on a large metal aparratus that sits in front of the gate, extending from the left centerground to the right foreground.
