Description |
Photograph of the exterior view the Los Angeles School of Art and Design, ca.1905. The four-story building has a Moorish look to it with its round arched windows and richly decorated geometric ornamentation around the windows, under the roof, and on the walls. A majority of the windows have ledges and some have window wells where plants are grown. There is a short tower on the left corner of the building. A sign in the center of the roof displays the schools name. Trees, plants and utility poles line the sidewalk. Streetcar tracks line the dirt road in front of the school.; Legible signs include: on a street sign "L.A. School of Art & Design, enter 6th Street", "for rent 6 rooms, superior flats, on first and second floor, apply on premises", "for rent, inquire within", "suits made to order, cleaning and repairing", "[...]era cloak & dresses cleaned", "badger, toilet[...], parlors". |
