Concrete is being poured in a long strip in the foreground at center by a large dump truck. At right, two large cylindrical supports are being built. In the background at left, a dirt road leads from the edge of the pit to the bottom. Several large buildings and many automobiles and pedestrians can be seen near the top of the pit.; Legible signs include, from left: "Cosmetics", "Fountain Grill", "Coca Cola", "Grants", "Zeemans", "City Park Garage Park in the Park in 52", "Hotel", "Sports Club", "Quality Cafeteria", "Hotel Portsmouth", "Coldwell Banker & Company", "Eastside", "Walt's Auto Park", "Cafeteria Boos Bros", and "Sightseeing".
