Photograph of a view looking southwest at the Los Angeles Civic Center, showing the Hollywood Freeway in the foreground, ca.1953. The freeway, that was recently completed as of 1953 and is comprised of ten lanes, five going east, and five going west. The five that are going east in the immediate foreground are split by what appears to be two lanes exiting. At least forty cars and trucks are on the road. Above the freeway are more then seven large city buildings that stretch the width of the image. The most central is a white rectangular building with a more then fourteen story tower that comes to a point at the top. To the far left, bus is visible on one of at least two freeway overpasses.
