Description	Photograph of two contrasting panoramic views of Pershing Square under the title "Growth of Los Angeles", after 1923. The first view, taken in 1880, shows a primarily residential area, with craftsman-style houses not exceeding two stories arranged around a central park. The second view, taken in 1923, shows the nine-to-ten story architecture of what has by the time become a cityscape. Busses and cars are visible driving the road to the right of the scene.
