The men are sitting in a group at center, some in chairs and some on the ground. Three large canvas tents are visible behind the men, and several baskets are hanging from a tree at left. One tent bears the inscription "MVR 45".; From left to right, the men pictured are: W.C. Patterson, H.C. Osborne, R.W. Burnham, T.R. Alles. The photoprint reads "Above Hen. T. Ree, Below Louis Vedder; Above Geo. H. Stewart, Below J. M. Eclaiatt; Above H. W. O'Melveny, Below Joseph J. Byrne".
