Description	Photograph of an intersection at Fifth Street in Portland, Oregon, [s.d.]. "On the Road of a Thousand Wonders" was an advertising slogan of the Southern Pacific Railroad, ca.1910. Portland, Oregon, was on the Southern Pacific route. A paved street runs from the foreground to the background at center and is divided by streetcar tracks. A streetcar can be seen at right, while a small horse-drawn buggy can be seen at left. Throngs of pedestrians are visible on the sidewalks on both sides of the street. Tall buildings border the road, and a network of utility wire runs overhead.
