There are several pedestrians and a horse-drawn vehicle in the middle of the intersection. At center is a low building surrounded by awnings, and there is a tall three-story building at left. Several vertical poles are visible, and suspended from these is a network of street lamps hung from wires. This corner was later the site of the Hotel Alexandria. A partially obscured caption at the bottom of the image reads "The upper photograph shows the corner as it was in 1904. The first portion of the Hotel Alexandria was completed in 1906, the addition in 1911, and the hotel is to be extended to Broadway with...about $8,000,000 for buildings and [...]".
