Shoes and other dressing room ephemera can be seen littering the left side of the painting. Painted 1891.; The artist, Paul Peel, was born in Ontario on November 7th, 1860. He died later in Paris, France on October 11th, 1892. Many of his paintings such as "A Venetian Bather", and "Before the Bath" also deal with undressing.
