Photograph of an exterior view of the San Gabriel Mission mill, El Molino, ca.1885. A man sits on one of the several smaller buildings annexed to and placed behind the main, rancher-style building that can be seen behind them. Several slabs of stone sit with him on top of the rectangular brick addition. Farther left, a small, clapboard-sided shed stands, its door facing away from the camera. A second, lower roof extends from the main building to the right, behind a tall chimney, several of which can be seen jutting out of the roof of the main building. The roof of another building and a stone wall are visible in the background along with a cow in the pasture beyond the wall. Forest fills the surrounding terrain. This was the first mill in Southern California.
