Photograph of Noverto Leon at age 105 years on the Soboba Indian Reservation, ca.1880. Leon was also known as "Indian Zanjero". He sits on a rock on a rocky incline with a walking stick in his right hand. A scarf is tied about his head. He has a short beard and moustache and hair chopped of just below his ears. His shirt is open in a "V" to the bottom of his chest and his trouser legs are rolled up. He is barefoot. In the background to his right, a small body of water can be seen.; "This is a native of Valley Center. He made many trips in and about the Valley living off of charity.
