Description	Photograph of the altar inside the church of Mission San Xavier del Bac, Tucson, Arizona, ca.1900. Highly decorated square pillars rise to form arches which support the ceiling which is painted with figures. Several pews stand on the floor front of the balustrade separating the raised altar from the rest of the church at right. The altar itself is surrounded by ornate carvings, metalwork, and statuary. Statues sit in recessed in the walls and pillers. The carved wooden pulpit sticks out from the wall (not visible) at right.
