Photographic portrait of celebrated literary and cultural figure of Los Angeles, Charles F. Lummis, [s.d.]. Mr. Lummis is pictured seated here, dressed in a corduroy jacket and pants, possibly the green corduroy suit that became his trademark. His legs are crossed and rested to the right, while Lummis rests his left hand on his thigh. In the other hand he holds what appears to be the butt of a cigar up at chest level. His face is weathered and wizened, showing signs of both toughening and age. His white hair is thinning and wild, pulled far back off his forehead by his receding hairling. He looks to the far corner of his eyes off towards something outside of the right of the frame, knowingly. A handkerchief is wadded and stuffed into his jacket pocket at left.
