Photoprint reads: "Nolix Indian Scout".; Kit Carson was a noted Indian scout and guide of the southwest United States. He knew the trails and landmarks from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. He lived at the Indian Pueble of Taos, New Mexico from 1858 and died there in 1868 where his grave is a popular attraction.
