Description	Photograph of a map of the Rancho San Pedro, surveyed by Henry Hancock, December, 1857. The ranch perimeter is drawn at center and loosely resembles an arrowhead in shape. Several adjacent ranches are shown as well, including Rancho Palos Verdes, Ranchos Las Sierritas, Rancho San Antonio, Rancho Taujita or Los Cuervos, and Rancho Sausal Redondo. Other landmarks within the ranch include Sepulveda's, Dwelling Salt Works, Boiling House, Alexander Browning's Halfway House, Old Wagon Road, N. Dominguez, Manuel Dominguez, Sycamore Tree Stake Place of Beginning, River San Gabriel, Inner bay of San Pedro, Canada de Palos Verdes, Rocks in water, and rolling plain. The Pacific Ocean borders the ranch in two places, one at left and the other at the bottom. In the bottom left corner is a circle containing the words "Map of the Rancho San Pedro Finally confirmed to Manuel Dominguez et al. Surveyed under the directions of the U.S. Surveyor Genera by Henry Hancock Dep. Surveyor December, 1857 Scale of 40 Chains to 1inch". A table at right contains data about boundary lines.; Handwriting in the bottom left corner reads as follows: "Area within the Exterior line of the confirmed tract¿44219 72/100 acres within the lines 'a' to '16' being the lands covered by the navigable waters of the inner Bay of San Pedro connected with the Ocean and therefore to be excluded¿180059/200 Included in the Boundaries specified by the confirmatory decree exclusive of Bay ¿48119 13/100 acres". Another paragraph reads: " The field notes of the 'Rancho San Pedro' and from which the Map has been made out, have been examined and approved, and are on file in this Office. U.S. Surveyor General's Office, San Francisco, California, February 19th, 1858 [¿] U. S. Surveyor General".
