Description	Photograph of a mural painting which depicts the founding of Los Angeles, ca.1931-1939. The mural, reproduced from a September 1931 issue of Touring Topics magazine is painted in a graphic, undetailed style and sports a caption over the top which reads "The Founding of Los Angeles 1781". Settlers in pilgrim-style clothing are visible, with a flag in the foreground and a collection of horses and riders in the background. The microfiche of the image shows supplementary text that appears to be from the magazine: it includes a ballad by John Russel McCarthy that begins "Peons from lazy Mexico", identifies the editor of the magazine as Phil Townsend Hanna and the artist of the painting as Millard Sheets.
