Description	Photograph of the Kettleman Hills Oil Field, featuring a prominent derrick, ca.1931. The oilrig stands right of center, with a series of pipes and funnels at its base alongside a tall shiny tank and a series of pumps inside a house-like structure. To its right sits a stack of poles atop the dusty ground. The soil slopes down at left toward an area full of digging equipment, and a plume of smoke sprouts from a pipe in the midst of this. In the leftmost background stand five smoke stacks, while a tank-like structure sits at center. In the distance is a series of dunes. The background is otherwise neutral.
