Photograph (engineering notebook photoprint) looking south from foot of Ivalee Street, Del Rey, Los Angeles County. Hyperion Pier in distance with new beach (51 acres) made by filling with sand from Hyperion in middle distance. No erosion here. This followed high tides (6.8 feet and 6.6 feet), accompanied by heavy ground swells and breakers which did considerable damage to piers and ocean front property between Hermosa Beach and Santa Monica along the route of the proposed "Ocean Front Walk" location of State Route 163. The high tide on 25 January occurred at 8:52 A.M. and measured 6.6 feet. This photograph was taken with the ebb tide at about 10:45 A.M. Also visible are: Pacific Electric Railway tracks, beach, utility poles and lines, a few trees, guard rail, ocean. No legible signs.
