Description	Pages 328-[329] in John Frost. The Mexican war and its warriors: comprising a complete history of all the operations of the American armies in Mexico. Philadelphia: H. Mansfield, 1848. This item was displayed in the Doheny Library Treasure Room reopening exhibit, 2001-2002, as part of the display on the library's Boeckmann Center.; The Boeckmann Center holds many rare works involving nineteenth-century Mexico. Appended to John Frost's publication is one of the earliest English-language versions of the Treaty of Peace, Friendship, Limits and Settlement, also known as the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The controversial accord, which marked the end of the Mexican-American War in 1848, forced Mexico to cede to the United States a vast region of the desert southwest, including California.

When night fell he was carried from the field sick, exhausted, and writhing with pain. His rest, together with careful attention, united with a strong constitution, speedily restored him to health.
