From 1910 until 1945, Angel Island served as a detention center to facilitate the exclusion of the immigration of Chinese people under the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act. Man in foreground, of Chinese origin, was detained at Angel Island Internment Camp, in the interrogation room, Angel Island, San Francisco Bay, San Francisco, California, June 24, 2003. He is revisiting Angel Island with his family.
