Mima, who is collating the data."; Another supplementary material reads: "Inglewood, Aug. 25. -- Statistics are being gleaned from meter books in the Water Department to come up with a method of raising water rates here without discriminating against anyone. Water Director Will Stokes said two girls, Rochelle Charyn and Charlotte Crosby, were hired on a temporary basis along with James Gurr to assist full time in the work. Two Water Department employes [sic], Darlene McCutcheon and Sharon Feb are devoting part of their time to the project. Assistant Water Director James J. Mima is compiling and charting the data. The figures will be presented to the city council on completion, expected about Sept. 15, to show city fathers what amount of increase is necessary to bring in a given amount of revenue. Councilmen ordered the figures compiled following Stokes' recommendation for a water rate hike of 20 per cent to offset a $1,017,960 of a five-year water main replacement program. Of the present system's 139.4 miles of mains, some 5.6 miles should be replaced annually until the major deficiencies of nearly 24 miles of mains are renovated, Stokes said in his recommendation."
