Two Air Force mercy pilots will be signally honored by the 51st General Conference of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale this afternoon for their daring rescue of 50 persons off a stricken French freighter last December 12. The 1958 meetinf of the FAI, an international organization of aero clubs which has aimed since its formation in 1905 to coordinate the development of world-wide aeronauticsm has attracted more than 150 delegates from 45 countries, including the Soviet Union. Theme of the Conference is 'Humanities in Aviation' and underscores the varied roles avaiation has played in making the peoples of the earth better neighbors. The Air Medal will be awarded to Captain William M. Knowlton and First Lieutenant Robert H. Busch, both of the 56th Air Rescue Squadron stationed in Sidi Slimane, French Morocco, at the concluding session of the FAI General Conference at the Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles, April 16.
