Irene Dunne and her husband, Dr. Francis Griffin, left here tonight (Tuesday, August 28th) via American Airlines for Venice, Italy, where Miss Dunne, in company with officials of the Motion Picture Association of America, will be Hollywood's representative at the International Film Festival being held early in Spetember. One of Hollywood's most popular ambassadors of goodwill, Miss Dunne will be in Venice for approximately 10 days during the progress of the world renown film festival. Miss Dunne will participate in an 'American Day' celebration being held on September 3rd. Guests at this gala salute to the American film industry will include American Ambassador to Italy, James C. Dunn; Leon Dayton, ECA minister to Italy; high officials of the Italian government and Italy's film industry; and representatives of other film producing nations. Representing the MPAA at the Festival will be John G. McCarthy, MPAA's vice president in charge of international affairs, who since his participation in the American film negotiations in London three weeks ago, has been visiting European capitals on film business. McCarthy is scheduled to arrive in Venice on Sept. 1st".
