Los Angeles District / Erection of steel for the $20,000,000 Statler Hotel and Office Building in Los Angeles has been completed by Consolidated Western Steel Corporation, a U.S. Steel subsidiary. The skeleton mass of metal in this picture represents over 7,200 tons of steel, mainly large girders, held together by over 200,000 rivets.; The building is 13 stories high and due to long non-parallel wings, the hotel section will have 1,275 outside rooms. There will also be a height-limit office building with 120,000 square feet of office space; a 500 car garage; a laundry capable of serving a city of 20,000 and 70,000 square feet of shops located on three levels.; The project is the largest hotel constructed in the United States constructed in the last twenty years and the biggest construction job on the West Coast since the War [sic].
