A huge throng numbering 850 Michigan State University rooters and alumni took over the Cocoanut Grove last night (Sunday) for a gigantic pre-Rose Bowl game rally which climaxed four hectic days of excitement by MSU enthusiasts prior to today's (Monday) Spartan-Bruin clash. Attending the gala Spartan rally were such notables as Clarence 'Biggie' Munn, MSU's Athletic Director; Head Coach Hugh 'Duffy' Daugherty; Actor William Bendix and 'Mr. California'; screen star Leo Carillo, who welcomed the enthusiastic Michigan State University crowd on behalf of the State of California. The evening's activities, which included speeches by Mr. Carillo and Athletic Director Munn, were highlighted by the appearance of MSU's drum najors and cheerleaders who led the audience through a series of MSU's cheers and songs. Marge and Gower Champion, who headline the regular Cocoanut Grove show, put on a special performance as their contribution to this memorable Michigan State University event".
