AKCO TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS ACTIVITIES
On November 15, 1980, after nineteen years (since 1961) of community service, the American Korean Civic Organization has
temporarily suspended its activities.
At a dinner meeting held at Yue's Restaurant in Gardena, a
majority of the membership in attendance voted to temporarily
suspend operations. In taking their action, the current officers
headed by Kay Song noted that interest and participation in Club
activities had been declining in recent years.
The membership also acted to entrust the guardianship of the
organization to Philip Lyou. There is approximately $1400 in
the Club treasury, and Rose Shur will continue as treasurer.
Carrie Kwon will continue in a secretarial capacity as needed.
It is anticipated that the AKCO will be reactivated when there
is renewed interest and a worthwhile objective can be identified
as a viable goal.
Any suggestions can be placed for Board consideration by contacting Philip Lyou at 16419 St. Andrews Place, Gardena, California
90247, (213) 323-8424.
