Japanese Economic Exploitation In Korea
Editor The Advertiser:
In connection with our protest against the proposed loan of America
to the Japanese Oriental Development Company for projects in Korea,
we wish to make clear to the public mind as to why we protest against
America's loan to Japan.
The iniquitous goal of Japan is the conquest and domination of
all Asia. Since Japan took possession of Korea, the stepping to the
mainland, the Oriental Development was organized under the direction
of the government to practice her long cherished aggressive policy first
in Korea by means of economic exploration. The company has achieved
its great enterprises by purchasing lands through many subtle methods
and sometimes by confiscating lands by force. Now about two thirds
of the best land in Korea (rice fields) are in the hands of the Japanese
Oriental Development company.
Koreans are thus despoiled of their home and land, are compelled to
emigrate to the wilds of Manchuria and Siberia to seek a livelihood.
It is interesting to note that although the Japanese authorities do not
allow Koreans to go to other parts of the world they encourage Korean
exodus into Manchuria and Siberia for two reasons.
1. To make room for Japanese immigrants into Korea.
2. To scatter Koreans into these regions so that Japan can have
a claim on these regions under the pretext "protecting" her Korean
subjects, and station her soldiers by so-called "infiltration tactics."
What does America's proposed loan to the Japanese Oriental Development company mean? It means to dispossess more Koreans of their
property. We protest against this loan, in the name of justice and
humanity. To quote Eobert Burns: "Man's inhumanity to man makes
countless thousands mourn."
