This is a photograph of Fr. Elliott in the dispensary, giving instructions to a Chinese woman for her baby's health.; Born in New York, Fr. Elliott came to Maryknoll in 1926 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1939. He was then assigned to Kweilin, China and spent the first five years of his mission career there. He served as Chaplain with the U.S. Army in Kunming and aided war refugees in many villages. At the end of the war he received the U.S. Emblem for Meritorious Civilian Service. He returned to Kweilin in 1945. In 1947 he opened the Pinglo Mission that had been closed during the war. He had a dispensary there. He was finally expelled in 1950. He spent the remainder of his mission life in the Philippines.
