"Group taken at time of Kawinga war :- including; Dr. Affleck Scott Mr Reid Mr Greville Sir Alfred Sharpe Commander Gurney R.N." Group portrait showing three seated European men with two standing behind. The men were part of a small force gathered to defend against the Yao chief, Kawinga. Kawinga’s plan was to attack the nearest British settlement to his village which was the Domasi mission. Acting Commissioner Sir Alfred Sharpe erected an outpost between Domasi and Kawinga’s village and it was from this post that the men set out to quell the uprising. Scott and Reid were there to provide medical assistance.
