Description	Note: "Fotos v. Borneo. Ca. 70 s/w Fotos v. Dr. Elber, Basel, zu etwas mehr als 50% beschriftet. Wohl von d. Zwischenkriegszeit."; Note translation: "Photographs from Borneo. About 70 s/w photographs from Dr Elber, Basel, rather more than half of them with captions. Probably from the inter-war period."; Note translation: Dr Elber appears to have been in parts of Borneo not visited by Basel missionaries. At any rate he cites place names we do not know from our other holdings. For this reason we have not yet registered the great majority of the place-names in our list of geographical terms, and users must therefore collate the different pictures of the same place themselves (PJ 12.2000). NB one photo is identified as showing Batak people, some others are identified as Dusun. Clearly the possibility exists that some of the photographs are from Sumatra, and some from North Borneo, unless there are immigrant groups of Batak and Dusun in what was then Dutch Borneo and is now Indonesian Kalimantan. [PJ 02.2001]. NB the four dated photographs all say 1924. (PJ 05.2001.)
