Presented to the Archive by Dr Max Preiswerk. - 194 photographs, 2/3 from India, 1/3 from China.; Note: Die grossen Formate der Bilder, sowie deren Qualität und die Signaturen auf den ersten Photos des Albums lassen darauf schliessen, dass Preiswerk und Oehler nicht selber fotografiert, sondern die Bilder bei professionellen Photostudios eingekauft haben. Das bedeutet, dass der Entstehungszeitraum der Bilder ausgedehnt werden muss und nicht auf die Reise von 1888 - 1889 festzumachen ist. - Das Blatt mit QQ-30.021.0194 auf der einen Seite und QQ-30.021.0195 bis QQ-30.021.0197 auf der anderen lag verkehrt herum im Album. Demnach sind diese Bilder in falscher Reihenfolge nummeriert worden. (MS 09.1998).- Die Bildtexte sind relativ knapp und gelten häufig auch für eine Gruppe von sich folgenden Bildern (Beispiel: Bijapur). Mehrere Bilder dienten als Vorlage für Holzstiche, u.a. QQ-30.021.0079 und QQ-30.021.0083. (BFN, 10.1998). - Möglicherweise können einige Bilder, zwischen 68 und 107 A.T.W. Penn zugeschrieben werden.; Note translation: The size of the photographs, and their quality (and the reference numbers on the first photographs in the album) indicate that Presiwerk and Oehler did not take photographs themselves, but bought images from professional photo studios. This means however, that the dating of individual photos is quite difficult. 1888-9 is only the "latest date". - The cardboard sheet with QQ-30.021.0194 on the one side and QQ-30.021.0195 to QQ-30.021.0197 on the other lay back-to-front in the album when it was catalogued. So these photographs were probably catalogued in the wrong order. (MS 09.1998) - The captions are fairly short, and often apply to more than one picture (for example: Bijapur). Several of the photographs have served as the basis for wood engravings, e.g. QQ-30.021.0079 und QQ-30.021.0083. (BFN, 10.1998). - Probably some of the images between 68 and 107 can be ascribed to A.T.W. Penn.
