Description	Annotation translation: [There is a printed text on the rear of the card:] "In the congregations of the German missions Christmas is a festival of great joy, and celebrating Christmas in the German way has become an important part of the year's calendar. It is true that you only find christmas trees in churches, school and mission houses. But the Christians are already used to the christmas tree and would not want to be without it. Admittedly there are no beautiful fir trees in these hot climates, and so one has to do the best one can, for instance with a coffee tree or a Casuarina, the latter because it looks most like a fir. In the houses of christian families home-made coloured paper lanterns replace the christmas tree. If people can afford it they will set off a little firework. As in Europe special christmas services and little presents for the pupils in the schools promote a spirit of joy on December 24th."; Annotation: [Gedruckter Text auf der Rückseite der Karte]: "In den Gemeinden der deutschen Missionen gilt Weihnacht als ein hohes Freudenfest, und die Feier desselben nach deutscher Art hat sich fest eingebürgert. Wenn auch der Weihnachtsbaum meist auf Kirchen, Schulen und Missionshäuser beschränkt geblieben ist, haben sich die Christen doch schon so daran gewöhnt, dass sie ihn nicht gerne missen würden. Freilich der schöne Tannenbaum fehlt in den heissen Ländern gänzlich, und so behilft man sich etwa mit einem Kaffeebaum oder einer Kasuarine; mit letzterem, weil er der Tanne noch am meisten ähnlich sieht. In den Häusern der Christen ersetzen gewöhnlich selbstgefertigte farbige Papierlaternen den Christbaum; wo die Mittel es erlauben, wird wohl auch ein kleines Feuerwerk abgebrannt. Eine Weihnachtsliturgie und kleine Geschenke an die Schuljugend erhöhen wie in Europa die Freude des heiligen Abends."
