In 1929 he married Elfriede Henriette Johanna Nigrin in Herrnhut. From 1929-39 and again from 1948 Schaberg worked as a missionary in western South Africa, especially in Elim. From 1934 he was Präses of the western South Africa Mission. In 1939 he went on holiday to Germany only to return to South Africa in 1948. From then on further information about him is missing.
