Description	Annotation translation: "Christmas in the hospital in Kwala Kapuas. Childrens' shining eyes look in a quite uncomplicated way at the Christmas lights, which are reflected not only in their eyes, but find their way into their hearts, and drive away the darkness of heathen fear. Should it be that the Christmas lights here go out simply because many people in old Christendom think it is no longer appropriate to pursue mission? Idajan (the child on the left) is a poor little heathen boy with a cold. His mother, who suffers from epilepsy and is not quite normal threw him away in a fit of anger, and he broke his arm and was brought to hospital. He was shy and malnourished when he came, but has found a place to be at home here, and has developed into a helpful 'big brother'. Everyone is pleased to have him here. Little Martha on the right is a child of christian parents. The mother abandoned her husband and children because she thought he had contracted leprosy, though this was not the case. The child was seriously ill several times and was brought to the hospital. She cried a lot during her first days here but has now become one of the happiest children. She has a high voice, and has sung songs which she has learned off by heart to entertain the older patients ."; Annotation: "Weihnachten im Spital Kuala Kapuas. Strahlende Kinderaugen schauen unverwandt ins Weihnachtslicht, das sich nicht nur in ihren Augen widerspiegelt, sondern dessen Schein in ihre Herzen dringt und das Dunkel der heidnischen Angst vertreibt. Sollen die Weihnachtslichter draussen verlöschen, weil in der alten Christenheit viele meinen, es sei jetzt nicht Missionszeit? Idajan (links auf dem Bild) ist ein armes verschnupftes Heidenbüblein. Seine Mutter, epileptisch und geistig nicht ganz normal, hatte das Kind im Aerger weggeworfen, wodurch es einen Armbruch erlitt und ins Spital gebracht wurde. Das scheue, unterernährte Kind hat sich im Spital, wo es eine Heimat fand, zu einem fröhlichen und hilfsbereiten 'grossen Bruder' entwickelt, an dem jedermann Freude hat. Martheli (rechts) ist ein Kind christlicher Eltern. Die Mutter hat ihren Mann und die Kinder verlassen, weil sie glaubte, ihr Mann sei aussätzig, was nicht stimmt. Das Kind war öfter schwer krank und kam ins Spital. Nach einigen tränenreichen Tagen war es eins der fröhlichsten Kinder im Spital.
