Stone Gateway (Shimenkan) in Guizhou Province was the centre of Methodist missionary work to the Miao people of south west China. The work was begun by Samuel Pollard (1864-1915) ca.1904 when in response to increasing numbers of Miao enquirers he built the centre at Shimenkan.
