Houses of village in background.; Chase Salmon Osborn (1860-1949) was the twenty-seventh governor of Michigan serving one term from 1911-12. He travelled widely and visited Madagascar between 1912 and 1914, publishing Madagascar, Land of the Man-eating tree in 1924. A number of the prints in this album are reproduced in this title. The album comprises of prints, mainly printing-out paper, either taken by or collected by Osborn. The album is inscribed "This album was made by natives of Madagascar. The bark of the "Tati" was used for the cover".
