This is a photograph of Fr. Joseph Reardon looks on as the last batch of hungry refugees finish their meals. They are sitting on the ground near the train tracks in small groups.; Born in Massachusetts, Fr. Reardon entered Maryknoll in 1926 and was ordained to the priesthood on June 14, 1938. His first assignment was to the Kaying Vicariate in South China. In 1941 he was interned by the Japanese in Hong Kong and the following year was repatriated to New York. He was assigned to Chile, but illness brought him back to the United States. He served as a chaplain and was assigned to various seminaries and novitiates in the United States.
