Dear Andrew:
As a result of our Campaign Steering Committee meeting held this past Friday, I am
happy to report to you on our progress.
The original objective of our meeting was to determine the official goal of the Boston
Latin School's Pons Privatus Capital Campaign. We entered the meeting with a goal
of raising $35,000,000 in outright cash gifts and pledges, and an additional
$30,000,000 in bequest intentions.
The meeting on Friday was very productive and exhilarating. One critical outcome
was the Committee's recommendation that we increase the overall goal to
$100,000,000, which would include $50,000,000 in outright gifts and $50,000,000 in
bequest intentions. This will become the goal over and above the $35,000,000 received
from the city and state. To do this we will need to raise $30,000,000 in outright gifts
and written pledges by March 1.
Currently, we have $18,000,000 in gifts and pledges. We hope that with your help,
we can reach the $30,000,000 mark by March 1st, allowing us to announce our
$100,000,000 Campaign at the Gala Celebration on March 31.
It has been our expectation that each member of the Campaign Steering Committee
participate at some level in the Campaign prior to our public announcements. If you
have not already pledged, you will be contacted by a member of the Campaign Steering
Committee or a representative from the Boston Latin School Association over the
coming weeks in order to discuss your commitment to the Campaign.
This goal can be reached with the dedication and generosity of our amazing alumni.
The Pons Privatus Campaign will be a resounding success! ^
Warm regards,
Bill Schawbel
