Gates Chief of Police Los Angeles Police Department 150 North Los Angeles Street Room 619 Los Angeles, California 90012 Dear Chief Gates: Thank you for your letter of June 13, 1991 regarding implementation of the Independent Commission's recommendations. As you know, the Commission is focused at present on reviewing evidence, considering our recommendations, and preparing our report. We plan to consider the subject of implementation near the end of our deliberations, but we have not done so yet. Until our report is ready and presented to the public and appropriate government officials (including you), it would be premature for us to consider the request contained in your letter. With best wishes. Sincerely, Warren Christopher WC:hb Suite 1910 400 South Hope Street Los Angeles, California 90071-2899 Telephone (213) 622-5205 Facsimile (213) 622-7318
