PERSONNEL COMPLAINT, LA. No. 86-600 Page 148 OHB. Sergeant Harry Ryon, Serial No. 17718, acted as an Employee Representative for Michelena. Michelena stated that he did not recall having asked Hearing Reporter Diethrich for any magazines so that he could cut out photographs of Black females to place over photographs of Karlson's family on his desk. Michelena said he was not aware of anyone else in the O.I.S. Section that would have made such a request. Michelena stated that he never observed anyone cut out photographs of Black females from magazines and place them over photographs of Karlson's family located underneath the blotter on his desk. Michelena recalled on occasion he had borrowed magazines such as "Runners World" from Diethrich. He also had brought in several catalogs for Diethrich to review but he never obtained any magazines for the expressed purpose of cutting out photographs of Black females. Detective Michelena was telephonically interviewed on August 14, 1989, at 1000 hours, by Lieutenant S. Coker. Michelena stated that neither on March 20, 1989, or at any other time, had Tortorici ever referred to him as a, "little brown fucker." In addition, he stated that he did not recall any discussion concerning any monies he might have owed Montgomery during which Montgomery stated to him, You know how you Mexicans lie all the time."
