PERSONNEL COMPLAINT, I.A. No. 86-600 Page 100 HALL. GREG. DETECTIVE II. SERIAL NO. 21619. ROBBERY-HOMICIDE DIVISION. 485-6474 Detective Hall was interviewed on April 25, 1989, 1300 hours, at Robbery-Homicide Division by Sergeant I Marty Cotwright, Serial No. 20132 and Lieutenant II S. Coker, Serial No. 20195, Operations-Headquarters Bureau. Detective Hall stated that while seated at his desk, he recalled that a conversation took place between Pellegrino and Ramirez. Hall said that the tone was such that he thought the two were joking, and that when he looked up, he saw Ramirez, who was about five to six feet to his left standing over Pellegrino who was seated at his desk, and that words were being exchanged. Hall did not recall any specific conversation. Hall said that he then went back to what he was doing. He could not recall exactly what he was doing. Hall said that the conversation got louder and that when he looked up again, he observed that Pellegrino and Ramirez were grabbing and pulling at each other's clothing. Hall could not recall who the.aggressor . was at that point nor could he recall where each had his hands on the other. Hall said that Pellegrino then lifted Ramirez up off the floor and placed him down on his back on the adjoining table. Hall did not recall how Pellegrino had put Ramirez on the table, except that it was in one continuous motion, and that it was not done in a foreceful manner nor was it a "body slam". Hall further stated that he did not recall hearing Ramirez cry out in pain nor could he recall if there were any objects on the table. Hall said that as soon as Pellegrino placed Ramirez on the table, that Pellegrino backed away, and that Ramirez got up off the table. Hall said at that point he thought that both Pellegrino and Ramirez had become angry with one another, because their tone of voice and their actions were no longer consistant with kidding around; however, he did not recall any words being exchanged between the two. Hall denied ever seeing Pellegrino with a clenched fist. He also denied ever seeing Pellegrino or Ramirez attempt to strike one another. Hall said at no time during the incident, did he recall Pellegrino refer to Ramirez as his "Mexican partner" or hear him say that he was going to straighten Ramirez out. Hall also denied ever hearing Pellegrino say to Ramirez, "I'll beat the shit out of you, you little fucking Mexican. I'll kill you." Hall said that had he heard that statement, he would have remembered it. Hall said that immediately after the incident was over, he and several others walked over to Pellegrino and Ramirez to intercede; however, there was no need, because the entire
